Whether you are from Utah or another state, it’s always nice to know what activities are available in the area where you’ll be living. Saratoga Springs is close to a variety of fun activities and events throughout the year.
Saratoga Springs, and the surrounding cities, offer choices for both the extremely active person, and the more restful type of person. Hiking, golf, water activities, movies, and shopping are just examples of the varied activities available.
There are many hiking trails within a half hour drive of Saratoga Springs. Israel Canyon Trail is right in Saratoga Springs. This is a mild hike with spectacular views of Utah Lake and the Wasatch Mountain range. Drive about a half hour east to American Fork Canyon, and you’ll find an array of hiking trails. The most popular is the hike to Timpanogos Cave National Monument. The views are breathtaking and at the top you can go for a refreshing tour of the cave. There really are a plethora of hiking trails to explore right in your own “backyard”.
Is golf your passion? If so, you’re in luck, there are 2 golf courses within a 5 minute drive of Starhaven Villas. The closest is The Ranches Golf Club. Just west on the highway, this golf course features a western theme and is carved out from the native prairie. It boasts an 18-hole championship facility. South of Starhaven Villas is Talon’s Cove Golf Club. This is 18-hole championship links-style golf course has mesmerizing views of the lake and Mt. Timpanogos. You’ll also find a Saratoga Springs Disc Golf Course, if frisbee is more your style.
Take advantage of living in a lake side city. Utah Lake is just minutes from your front door. Fishing, boating, water skiing, paddle boarding, catamarans, whatever your favorite water activity, you’ll find what you’re looking for. Many people also enjoy fishing on the Jordan River, which is nearby. There are also hot springs at Inlet Park where you enjoy a nice, hot soak.
Are you a movie buff? There are movie theaters all around. Fat Cats, in Saratoga Springs, not only has a movie theater, but bowling and other activities as well. If you drive just 15 minutes northeast, you’ll find Thanksgiving Point. There is a movie theater, but also a multitude of other points of interest. The dinosaur museum is a favorite for the grandkids. They also have the Museum of Curiosity that will keep the grandkids engaged for hours. Kids and adults alike love the Butterfly Biosphere. If you are a connoisseur of gardening? You’ll fall in love with the Ashton Gardens. Walk, drive a golf cart or a Segway to absorb all the gorgeous plant life.
Just across the freeway from Thanksgiving Point you’ll find great shopping. The Outlets at Traverse Mountain is an outdoor mall with a variety of shops and eateries.
Saratoga Springs host Splash Days the first week in June. There is a carnival, parade, car show, and a host of other fun activities. Eagle Mountain has Pony Express Days the last week of May. Their activities are similar, but they also have a rodeo, demolition derby, and an outdoor concert. Lehi host the Lehi Roundup every year. Examples of the featured activities are: bingo, beauty pageant, outdoor movie, bbq and concert in the park, art show, golf tournament, parade, and the all-important PRCA rodeo.
No matter your interests, you’ll find activities galore to experience yourself or with your kids and grandkids.
